On October 22nd, 2014, I participated in a non-hostile takeover of the Ardmore Music Hall along with my partner, Tom. It is a wild and meaningful coincidence that 1 year to the day, our new and improved website has gone live. The differences may be subtle to most of you who visit our site occasionally and check out some of our upcoming events- but to me, this website overhaul represents tremendous progress over our team’s first year together.
The live music scene in and around Philly is burgeoning, to say the least, and it’s a really competitive venue environment. We’re proud to be a part of it, and as far as a sense of community goes- we feel our place and our people, our regulars and Music Club members, and all the musicians who loyally work with our humble crew- they all stack up against any other place out there. There’s so much history that culminates in this place at this time. The 23 East Cabaret, and the Chestnut Cabaret; The Blockley, and Brownies; The Point, The Main Point, and the Point Entertainment team; somehow, it has all come together under the roof of the Ardmore Music Hall, and I’m honored to help carry on those traditions and to champion the creation of new ones.
We’re entering our Year 2, and Ardmore Music Hall’s Year 3. With 24 months down, this venue has had the pleasure of hosting some real highlights- The Hooters, Dr. John, George Clinton & P-Funk, Billy & the Kids featuring Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead, The Psychedelic Furs, Snarky Puppy, North Mississippi Allstars, Jon Fishman (Phish’s drummer), Tommy Conwell & the Young Rumblers, Rebirth Brass Band, Kermit Ruffins, and on and on. There’s a great team of passionate people that are helping try to establish Ardmore Music Hall as a mainstay in the hearts of Philly’s live music body for a long time to come: Sara, Becky, Julian & Jesse, Jesse & Rich, Matt, Jim, Al, Andy & Mark, and so many more that I’m thankful to call friends and allies in this wild labor of love.
Thanks for visiting our website, our blog, and hopefully- our venue! Cheers to many exciting shows upcoming, and check back here for interesting content / thoughts / archives and everything in between.
