Studio 1200 DJs
Studio 1200 DJs
Studio 1200 is a DJ Academy specifically designed for young people in the 4th through 12th grades. While some of our students truly aspire to be professional DJs, (and some already are!) many take our classes simply to further explore a passion for music.

While we have a strong focus centered around DJing, we have equally strong curriculum, teachers and classes that explore what it means to be an M.C. (rapper), Producer, and young Entrepreneur. We also have classes in Web Development, Digital Media and Film – all crafted and created for grade school kids.

We strongly believe DJs are musicians too, and our classes provide a creative outlet for young minds just like after-school lessons to learn any other instrument. Learning to DJ (or rap, or produce, or create media) is a positive extracurricular activity utilizing technology and computer skills in addition to helping kids unleash their passion for music (and life!) in a very unique way that also introduces kids to the concepts and branding and entrepreneurship.

The curriculum for each of our classes was meticulously designed and created by a team of educators, musicians, child psychologists, entrepreneurs, and some of the world’s best DJs and producers, in order to create the best learning experience possible.

We teach through a combination of our experiential classrooms (which utilize video, guest speakers, lessons, hardware, software, and small group practice); homework (including our original text books and videos); and lots and lots of practice. Each class is lead by one main instructor who is aided by a group of specialized teachers brought in to teach on topics ranging from music theory, to how to listen to music, and even meditation—all elements we feel are vital to any budding DJ or Artist.

While our classes are firmly rooted in the foundations of MUSIC, we also make TECHNOLOGY and ENTREPRENEURSHIP the backdrop to everything we do. We believe these two areas are an integral part of the modern music experience, and ultimately future successes. Students see the project through from beginning to end: they come up with a theme, sell tickets, make money to donate to a charity of their choice, and perform a live DJ set during the party.

Studio 1200 is supported by a crew of graphic designers, videographers, and entrepreneurs enlisted to sustain the creation of art and the experiences that will help students learn not only the world of DJing, but also experience areas of multi-media creation, event production, and more. We pride ourselves on being a small “mom and pop” company that believes in the power of music and the power of community.

We adopt the African proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” and incorporate that nurturing, community-based philosophy in everything we do. Ultimately, we offer a creative environment that celebrates everyone’s individuality and allows students to embrace and express their uniqueness through music.

Studio 1200 stands for the pure joy that music can bring to a life (both young and old!) and the ways to access that infinite gratification.
