The Stanley Clarke Band
The Stanley Clarke Band
Stanley Clarke was a 20-year-old wunderkind on acoustic and electric basses when he first appeared with Chick Corea's Return to Forever in the early '70s. In the vanguard of the jazz-rock movement, his own solo albums featured an extremely diverse grouping of talent, at times including Jeff Beck, Jan Hammer and Tony Williams. His versatility allowed him to move seamlessly between jazz, classical, pop, and R&B styles, even expanding into producing albums for other artists. In the '80s, with longtime collaborator George Duke, he formed the pop-oriented Clarke/Duke Project. He also played in Stewart Copeland's Animal Logic and Ron Wood's New Barbarians. A four-time Grammy award-winner, Clarke is now touring with acoustic pianist Beka Goshiashvili, keyboardist Cameron Graves, and drummer Michael Mitchell. His recent album, UP, unveils an exciting mix of new and old compositions, alternating between acoustic and electric formats.

Ernest Stuart Trio
Ernest Stuart is a Philadelphia-bred trombone player that fell in love with jazz early. He eagerly pursued music throughout his adolescence, sometimes with—and sometimes without—his family’s knowledge. At various points in his jazz education, he surreptitiously signed up for band classes on his own (though he worried his mother could not afford to buy him an instrument), spent his high-school-service-worker wages on trombone lessons, and meted out as much time playing in jazz clubs as he did attending class while he was getting his music degree from Temple University. After a post-college stint in New York, Stuart returned to Philadelphia to continue his recording and performance career, including several years spent playing and touring internationally as part of the band Red Baraat, and performing sharing the stage and toured with the likes of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Seal, The Legendary Roots Crew, Aretha Franklin to name a few. He also threw time into founding and producing the Center City Jazz Festival, now in its 7th year. He is currently tours regularly as part of the house bands for international acts, as well as playing and producing his own original music.
