As an entertainer, songwriter, and vocal coach with over twenty years of successful music experience, Jakeya Sanders has blown audiences away time after time with her pristine voice and dynamic stage presence. As a Philadelphia native, Jakeya was always surrounded by music. Her voice and ear was first developed in the church, singing and performing alongside her family members. Her father, who is a multi-instrumentalist, was her first music teacher, teaching her drums at age 7, and by age 8, Jakeya’s voice was capturing ears and hearts. Her mother soon become her A&R rep, supporting her development as vocalist in and beyond the church walls.

Jakeya graduated from The Creative and Performing Arts High School of Philadelphia (CAPA), where the likes of Bilal, Jazmine Sullivan, Boys to Men and many other household artists attended. Growing up, she was influenced by the music her parents listened to; artists like Bootsy Collins, Earth Wind and Fire, Dougie Fresh, Anita Baker, The Isley Brothers, Cameo, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston to name a few. Building her own music library, Jakeya enjoyed many great artists, such as Monica, Biggie, Foxy Brown, 702, Tamia, and Dru Hill, but one of her greatest influences, is Kim Burrell. Jakeya also studied and loved some of the world’s jazz greats, such as Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Carmen McCrae. Trained in classical voice, jazz, contemporary, soul and gospel music, Jakeya has developed a diverse sound in various genres of music - from opera to hip-hop.

Today, as an Alternative Soul Indie artist, Jakeya is pushing boundaries and enjoys the freedom in music and performance. She has the ability to connect to any audience, as she presents love, and a musical freedom that is limitless. Jakeya’s music is a celebration of life, and she wants to encourage others to be just the way they are - Perfect, Whole, and Complete! Jakeya has graced audiences from around the world including the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, and Europe. You can find Jakeya performing in various venues in Philadelphia like Hard Rock Cafe, World Cafe Live, TIME, The Painted Bride, University of the Arts, Silk City, and the Sugar House Casino.
