EPMD
EPMD
EPMD (Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith), with their sample-reliant productions and monotone rapping styles, were among the best in hip-hop's underground during the late '80s and early '90s. Never short of a funky groove and a sharp lyric EPMD created many classics over the course of their four albums (from the 1988 classic Strictly Business to 1992's Business Never Personal). Coming together in 1987 - naming themselves EPMD, short for "Erick and Parrish Making Dollars" - the duo recorded their debut single "It's My Thing". That single was later licensed to Chrysalis, and EPMD was eventually signed to Sleeping Bag/Fresh Records for their first full length album "Strictly Business". Ultimately they found themselves on Def Jam by the beginning of the '90s. Presideding over an extended family dubbed the Hit Squad, including Redman, K-Solo, and Das EFX.
Hezekiah
Hezekiah
There are two tales of the Delaware-born, Philly-honed producer/emcee known as Hezekiah. Hezekiah has been a well-respected ambassador for progressive underground hip-hop for the past 10 years. The producer is known for his soul-searching lyricism and panoramic hip hop soul production for artists such as: Bilal, Bahamadia, Zap Mama, Musiq Soulchild (Grammy nominated), Eric Roberson and more....

Hezekiah the emcee is a cautionary tale of unforeseen label woes on the debut of his 2005 cult classic, Hurry Up and Wait (SoulSpazm), and I Predict A Riot (Rawkus), named by AllMusic.com as one of their favorite “Hip Hop Albums of 2007.” Last but not least, we cannot forget 2010 Conscious Porn. Overcoming the label set backs, Hezekiah was able to feature talents like: Talib Kweli, Raheem DeVaughn, Bahamadia, Peedi Crack, and Cody Chesnutt.

The past few years have been spent refining his craft, raising the musical bar, and developing the eclectic band JONNHY POPCORN. Hezekiah has continued producing, song writing, and featuring with for some of your favorite artists. Now in 2014 Hezekiah is unleashing yet another offering of full-bodied hip-hop that will penetrate the times with sonically soulful production and brutally honestly lyricism. The slumber was necessary to in order to dream, but now Hezekiah is awake and he knows that DREAMS DON’T CHASE THEMSELVES…

Mic Stew
Mic Stew
Mic Stewart is an American rapper/recording artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In his early years he quickly became known as one of Philly’s premier freestylers by open mic’ing and cyphering all over the city’s dense musical landscape. By 2010 he had cultivated a buzz that landed him on stage with touring acts Big KRIT, Questlove, Black Thought, Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, and more. All of his groundwork as a local wordsmith culminated in him being selected for the national Red Bull Emsee freestyle competition in 2011–he bested MCs from Philly and went on to win the national Red Bull Emsee title in Atlanta in 2012, a victory that landed him in the studio with now-heavyweight producer duo THC (of Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, and A$AP Rocky fame).

Determined to assert himself as a songwriter and recording artist, Mic Stew followed his national success with a series of independent releases. PEACEWORLD (2013), The Big L Mixtape (2014), the white label single All Black Chucks (2015), and his latest EP Higher Purpose (2015), all of which received critical acclaim and national digital Distribution deals via Soulspazm Records.

Stewart is currently writing and recording his second full length LP, tentatively untitled, with his sight set on finding representation, touring, and major label partnership.
